Travel like a Pro Cancun

Before travelling, you might want to keep in mind a few things, especially nowadays. Of course, Cancun is one of the most gorgeous places you could go, but before making your bags, you should keep a few things in mind. Most of the tips we list below are things that most people wish to know before going, and we will show them to you.

Table of Contents

  • Try to book outside of the ‘Hotel Zone’
  • Try to buy local
  • Pack some medicines and bug spray
  • Uber is illegal in Cancún

Try to book outside of the ‘Hotel Zone’

If you want to really experience your vacations like the locals, you should try to go at least downtown. In other words, try to be the further you can from the Hotel Zone if you want to really get to know the city. Other than all-inclusive resorts stretching as far as the eye can see, you won’t find much in this zone.

Even though the ‘Hotel Zone’ is one of the best places to stay if you don’t want to go out, there aren’t many things to do here. Like almost every city in Mexico, Cancun has places that are rich in culture and worth visiting. The best you can do is try to spend time close to the downtown or the coastal towns.

Try to buy local

From the food to the products, you should try to go local and buy everything downtown. If you want good, local food, we recommend you try to go to the Parque Las Palapas. On the other hand, the best souvenirs can be found in the local markets and the artisanal shops. Mercado 28 is one of the best places to go if you want to buy a gift and handmade goods.

Pack some medicines and bug spray

Having a personal first aid kid is almost mandatory when you are travelling because you don’t know what can happen. Fit a good sunscreen, medicine for allergies and any cream you might need for long hours of walking. We recommend this mostly because those can be expensive if you don’t know where to buy medicines when you travel.

On the other hand, you should always have bug spray on you, even if you plan to stay in the hotel most of the time. This is because even though mosquitos tend to be out during the nighttime, some places have many trees and plants. This means that mosquitos will be there, and you should be prepared for it.

Uber is illegal in Cancún

Even though the app work, Uber are illegal. No matter where you are, you can’t use an Uber, which means you will have to take a taxi or rent a car. You could pre-book transportation from the airport to your hotel; however, you will have to learn how to move to the city. There are multiples busses and ways to move safely around the city whenever you want.
