There are endless theories about this first half of the season, after releasing the first trailer, announcing a premiere date, and releasing its previews. After last season’s open ending, there’s a lot of speculation about what’s going to happen next. The premiere of the first half of its final season was today, and the theories are gaining momentum.
This final season of the series will be divided into two parts, called volume 1 and volume 2. Volume 1, or the fifth season’s first half, premiered today, so you can already see part of the story. The second part of this season will premiere between December 2 and 3 of this year.
What do we know so far about this new part?
If you’re up to date with ‘La Casa de Papel’, you’ll know that season 4 didn’t end as expected. However, since we don’t want to give you any spoilers, we’ll tell you some of the things you should expect.
New characters
As you should know by now, many new actors have joined this new season to represent new faces. An example of this is the appearance of Rafael, the son of Berlin, done by Patrick Criado. He is currently 31 years old and is a talented computer scientist who doesn’t want to be like his father.
Another character we will meet is Tokio’s enigmatic boyfriend. We know that — before the current events, even before Tokio was called Tokio —, she was René’s girlfriend. This character will be immortalized by Miguel Ángel Silvestre, being the man with whom she started to know about heists.
Last but not least, we will also meet Segasta, the leader of the Special Forces of the Spanish Army. This character, played by José Manuel Seda, will be a natural-born leader. Cold and manipulative, he will do anything to enforce the law.
Theories and speculations
We all know that the last season did not end very well; however, the series cannot be extended. For now, the plot of season 5 hopes to finish what they started in season 3. In other words, it follows the plan to rescue Rio and escape from the Bank of Spain. Unfortunately, this is somewhat truncated after the inspector Sierra caught the Professor.
This can mean many things, but none of them can be good because, as we know, Sierra is wanted by the police. As a character, she is almost a psychopath, and she may use the Professor to get out of the charges against her. Some fans speculate that an alliance will be made between the two, and of course, they will betray each other.
For now, Palermo is expected to prove that he has what it takes and will sacrifice himself for the plan like Berlin. In other words, we believe that the group will succeed and manage to take the loot. Another theory said that inspector Sierra would triumph over the whole group and take the loot for her. However, we don’t know what to expect, and we will see how it all unfolds in this new season.
