Sneakers are an important part of the story of fashion and sports, equally. So many pairs of shoes that made a heavy impact in their time are an iconic part of our fashion culture and our outfits. Most sneakerheads also collect them because the brands we will mention worked close with many prime designers.

If you like sneakers just because you are really into them, you probably own a pair or wanted a pair of a very iconic one. Here we will talk about why some of the most popular shoes are so special and why you should go buy them.

Table of Contents

  • Air Jordan
  • Adidas SuperStar
  • Adidas x Jeremy Scott Wings
  • Nike Cortez
  • Converse “Chuck Taylor”

Air Jordan

This is a brand on its own, and there are very few sneakers that are this popular. Since 1985, the Air Jordan became the official NBA shoe, thanks to the effort of the one and only Michael Jordan and Nike. After Nike made a deal with the Michael Jordan’s brand, the combined technology and the fact that the Chicago Bulls wore them for every game made them a success.

With this shoe, the sneakerhead culture began; however, the brand had its ups and downs. Through the years, the brand collaborated with many designers, keeping this brand relevant this way. So whether you love the classic models or are into the more high-end, brand designer ones, the love is the same.

Adidas SuperStar

You probably have a pair of these sneakers, or you saw them all over your Instagram not so long ago. Even though the Adidas SuperStar hit the shelves almost 50 years ago, they are still stylish shoes. They are a way to look causal on almost any outfit. They are more related to fashion culture than anything else. However, their story started very differently.

In their starts, this was the shoe that would change the basketball sneaker game forever. Thanks to marketing advice, Adidas made their first introduction to basketball shoes with this pair, and they made an impact. However, thanks to the Hip-Hop culture, the skateboarders and the streetwear culture, these shoes got their legendary status.

Adidas x Jeremy Scott Wings

Adidas is well-known thanks to its many collaborations with designers and famous sneakerheads. However, when they first talked to Jeremy Scott in 2003, this was something unheard of, and they did incredibly. They created one of the pop culture’s most talked partnerships and made a cult fan-base out of the shoes.

Right now, they rejoined together to launch a re-concept of their original partnership with an even more iconic pair of winged sneakers. They will be bringing back the wings, and the famous money print to their first collection will be out for fall.

Nike Cortez

Nike Cortez began as a track shoe released in 1972, and after some time, it resonated with L.A. street culture. This was the first shoe that the company released under the name Nike, even if it was designed before under another name. It was a staple of the brand and became a piece of culture thanks to a Charlie’s Angel’s episode, where Farrah Fawcett wore a pair. The scene is so iconic now that even Bella Hadid recreated it decades later.

That was de beginning of Nike Cortez as a pop culture powerhouse in all types of media. It was in iconic movies, celebrities like Elton John and Whitney Houston wore them in their concerts. However, they reached their highest over the years when Forrest Grump won the Academy Award for Best Picture. If you can’t guess, yes, Forrest ran with a pair of those babies.

Converse “Chuck Taylor”

Everybody owns at least a pair of Converse, because they have been around in fashion and sports for so long. As many sneakers they began as basketball shoes but the competition was too much at some point. But, during the 1970s, the shoe’s aesthetic was so popular that it became a counter-culture icon.

Since the 70s, and after so many rock stars, youngers, and distinctive looks, it became more and more popular. We already know how famous these shoes are, as they are still popular and relevant after this many years.
